DRY4
Without adequate ventilation, it is quite possible for environmental ammonia levels to climb as high as 40-70 PPM in the ambient air, at these levels it can depress performance of the animals. If ammonia levels are kept below 25 PPM, the adverse effects on the growing are minimised. On the other hand adequate ventilation can be a problem during the colder winter months. Temperature must be maintained at a certain level but if too much fresh (cold) air is required to keep ammonia levels down, energy costs can become prohibitive.
Acidic litter amendments such as DRY 4 provide control over ammonia generation for several weeks. Animals grown on litter treated with these litter amendment products exhibit significantly better feed conversion as well as enhanced weight gain and improved carcass quality. Reducing moisture and ammonia, these litter agents can positively enhance footpad quality of the broilers. Air sac scores for birds raised over litter amendments can also be significantly improved.
